HC Deb 09 May 1946 vol 422 c113W
4. Mr. Chamberlain

asked the Secretary of State for the Home, Department whether, in the case of nationals of Allied countries who are at present resident in this country, he will grant facilities for their relatives, residing in European countries, to pay brief visits to this country on family or personal grounds, where the related persons in this country are prepared to undertake the maintenance and accommodation during the period of stay.

Mr. Oliver:

This is already my right hon. Friend's policy in cases in which the Passport Control Officer abroad is satisfied that there are reasonable grounds for a visit, that only a short visit is intended, and that the foreigner abroad will be able to return to the country in which he resides.
