asked the Minister of Food when there is likely to be a delivery of bananas for the adult population of Great Britain.

Sir B. Smith:

Owing to the continued shortage of ships suitable for the transport of bananas, I regret that I can hold out little hope that the quantities I can import will be sufficient to enable me to make a distribution to the adult population this year.
