HC Deb 07 May 1946 vol 422 cc72-3W
81. Mr. Champion

asked the Secretary of State for War if he will take steps to amend the Royal Warrant so as to provide for pensions payable to officers commissioned from the ranks to be assessed at officers' rates in respect of that portion of their service rendered as officers.

Mr. Lawson:

I assume that my hon. Friend has in mind other rank pensioners who were re-employed as emergency commissioned officers. Under the scheme for the reassessment of pensions in respect of war service announced on 15th April these men will receive a special rank element which takes account of their officer service in addition to the normal service element.

These additions were decided upon after careful consideration of the circumstances and are considered to provide a reasonable benefit to the pensioners concerned.
