§ 101. Mr. Kingsmillasked the President of the Board of Trade what proportion of the 1938 consumption of skins for gloving purposes is now allocated to factories on the Treforest Estate, Yeovil and district, Worcester and other established centres.
§ Mr. Belcher:As the industry was not able to make adequate figures available to us of its consumption of skins in 1938, I can only compare today's figures with 1940 usage. On this basis, the allocations to manufacturers in the districts named by the hon. Member are, in every case, 50 per cent. of their 1940 usage. In addition, supplementary allocations are made to assist firms who would other- 53W wise suffer from the loss of supplies of leather obtained for Government wartime contracts which have now ceased and to make up for the inclusion in the allocation system, since 1st October, 1945, of types of leather previously uncontrolled.
