HC Deb 06 May 1946 vol 422 cc59-60W
Mr. Turton

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will explain the rise in the cost-of-living subsidies in respect of margarine, cooking fats and oils, from £4.2 million to £8 million, and in respect of bacon, from £2.5 million to £5 million, between 14th February, and 15th April, 1946.

Mr. Dalton:

Both these increases are due to an estimated rise of import prices during the present financial year.
