HC Deb 01 May 1946 vol 422 c19W
Brigadier Low

asked the Minister of Works whether there is sufficient room in the Sanctuary Buildings, Great Smith Street, S.W.I, to house the 550 of the Ministry of Pensions staff who were evacuated to Blackpool in 1939 and who were then promised to return to their home station on the cessation of hostilities; and, if there is no room there or in Government Buildings, Bromyard Avenue, Acton, what steps he has taken to find room for these 550.

Mr. Tomlinson:

There is at present insufficient room in Sanctuary Buildings to House the whole of the staff referred to in the Question, but I am arranging by the removal of some of the Ministry of Works' staff to make room there for 100 Ministry of Pensions staff whose early return from Blackpool has been approved. I hope to find room later in Sanctuary Buildings or in Government Buildings, Acton, for a further 200 staff from Blackpool whose subsequent return has also been approved.
