HC Deb 01 May 1946 vol 422 c23W
Mr. De la Bâre

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether, in connection with the Emergency Laws (Transitional Provisions) (Colonies, &c.) Order in Council, 1946, he has issued any instructions to Colonial Governors stressing the desirability of revoking as soon as possible all regulations the continuance of which is not essential to good government.

Mr. Georǵe Hall:

Since 1943 the power taken under emergency legislation in Colonial territories have been kept under constant review and instructions have from time to time been issued to secure the revocation of regulations no longer required. This was emphasised in September, 1945, when instructions were issued that all regulations not required after the end of hostilities should be revoked. It was not necessary to repeat the earlier instructions specifically when the Order in Council referred to in the Question was made.
