HC Deb 22 March 1946 vol 420 cc427-8W
Mr. Baker White

asked the Minister of Labour if his attention has been called to the refusal to release for agricultural employment T/14559937 Driver A. T. Austen, seeing that he was a full-time farm worker prior to his joining the Army; that he applied for release several months ago; that his previous employers, Messrs. A. E. Burton and Sons, of Westgate Court Farm, Canterbury, have also applied for his services; and if arrangements can be made for his inclusion in the block release scheme.

Mr. Isaacs

An application for the release of an individual agricultural worker in Class B can be entertained only when the worker is a key specialist. Driver Austen could not be regarded as a key specialist, but I understand that he is within the scope of the block release arrangements.
