HC Deb 21 March 1946 vol 420 cc411-2W
Mr. Ernest Davies

asked the Assistant Postmaster-General if he will estimate the cost to the Revenue of a return to prewar rates of telephone rentals and other charges.

Mr. Burke

A return to prewar rates of telephone rentals and other telephone charges would, on the current level of business, involve a loss to the cash revenue of the Post Office of the order of £10,000,000, together with a loss of credit of £4,000,000 in respect of services to Government Departments at present rendered without adjustment in cash.
