HC Deb 21 March 1946 vol 420 c421W
Mr. N. Smith

asked the Minister of Food whether he will initiate discussions with the Eireann authorities with a view to arranging long term price guarantees for Irish cattle producers, similar to those given to producers in Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Dr. Edith Summerskill

My right hon. Friend does not propose to initiate such discussions. The cattle exported from Eire to the U.K. are mostly store cattle and there are no price guarantees to U.K. producers for store cattle.
