HC Deb 21 March 1946 vol 420 cc421-2W
Mr. Peter Freeman

asked the Minister of Food whether he is aware that 52,000 tins of milk were recently found in premises of an ice-cream merchant; and whether he will inquire into the allocation of food for this purpose.

Dr. Summerskill

I am aware of the case referred to by my hon. Friend. The ice cream merchant concerned admitted that he bought the milk in the black market and has already been dealt with by the courts. The allocation of milk and milk products to ice cream manufacturers ceased in the early summer of 1945.
