Mr. Hardy

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he will arrange for those members of His Majesty's Forces who were serving abroad, when VE and VJ-Days were declared last year, to have special leave during the victory celebrations this year, providing they are serving in this country.

Throughout the country, 8th June will be observed as a holiday in which His Majesty's Forces will participate. It is not proposed to make any special concessions to those who were abroad last year during VE and VJ days.
