HC Deb 20 March 1946 vol 420 c393W
Mr. J. L. Williams

asked the Secretary of State for War how many Class B releases from the Army have now been offered; and how many of these were declined.

Mr. Lawson

The total number of offers which have been or are in the course of being made is about 316,000. The returns which are available do not distinguish between those who have refused release and those who for one reason or another are found to be ineligible, for example, Regular soldiers included in error. Those who have either refused release or are not eligible, together amount to 94,400 out of the 204,400 cases in which a reply to the offer has been received.
