HC Deb 20 March 1946 vol 420 c372W
Mr. Stokes

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he is aware that Messrs. Lencoy, of Milan, have for immediate disposal 150,000 suits of clothes; that their factories are capable of producing 6,000 suits weekly; that they are prepared to dispose of them at $9 a suit or for block sterling or in exchange for 2,000 tons of Egyptian cotton; and whether he will make arrangements for the supply of these suits to be made available for the home market.

Mr. Belcher

I understand that these suits are made of rayon and are, therefore, unsuitable for the British climate.
