HC Deb 20 March 1946 vol 420 cc370-1W
Lieut.-Colonel Hare

asked the President of the Board of Trade what instructions manufacturers have received requesting them to give priority for the supply of initial stock to ex-Servicemen who wish to start up businesses.

Mr. Belcher

None, Sir; but, as was stated by my right hon. and learned Friend on 17th December, the Department have in the past obtained the cooperation of suppliers in assisting war disabled new entrants to get supplies, and my right hon. Friend expressed the hope that such assistance would continue to be given to war disabled persons setting up in retail trade. The Regional Controllers of the Board of Trade have also been asked to assist such persons and ex-traders, who are having difficulty in obtaining supplies with which to trade as retailers, by putting them into touch with wholesalers who might be able to supply them.
