HC Deb 20 March 1946 vol 420 c370W
90. Mr. Touche

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether his attention has been called to the case of a Serviceman, Mr. A. V. Sparks, of 32, Chalkful Lane, Dorking, whose demobilisation leave commenced on 12th February and who applied to his Department on 31st January for a licence to open a shop at Brighton, but has so far received no reply; and, in view of the fact that such delays prevent Servicemen utilising their demobilisation leave for civilian resettlement, if he will take steps to expedite a decision in this and similar cases.

Mr. Belcher

Yes, Sir. Although I cannot trace the application of 31st January to which the hon. Member refers, I understand that Mr. Sparks is wanting a coupon float with which to start a millinery business. I am making inquiries into the matter and will write to the hon. Member as soon as possible.
