The reply is as follows the present members of the National Parks Committee, under the Chairmanship of Sir Arthur Hobhouse, are:

Their terms of reference are as follow:

  1. (a) To consider the proposals in the-Report on National Parks in England, and Wales (Cmd. 6628) of May, 1945, as to the areas which should be selected as National Parks; and to make recommendations in regard to the special requirements and appropriate boundaries, of those areas which, in the view of the Committee, should be first selected;

  3. (b)to consider and report on theproposals made in that Report as to themeasures necessary to secure the objectsof National Parks, and on any additional measures which in the view of theCommittee are necessary to secure thoseobjects; and
  4. (c)to consider and make recommendations on such other matters affecting the establishment of National Parksand the Conservation of Wild Life as may be referred by the Minister to the Committee.

The present members of the Wild Life Conservation Special Committee, under the Chairmanship of Dr. J. S. Huxley, are:

Their terms of reference are:

  1. (a)To consider the proposals set outin paragraphs 60-68 of the Report onNational Parks in England and Wales(Cmd. 6628) as to the Conservation ofWild Life, and to advise the NationalParks Committee in regard to anymodifications in these proposals, or anyadditional measures which in the view ofthe Special Committee, may be necessary or desirable.
  2. (b)To consider such matters relatingto Wild Life Conservation as may bereferred by the Minister of Town andCountry Planning to the National ParksCommittee and delegated by them to theSpecial Committee.

As regards the submission of evidence, the National Parks Committee have already received, or asked for, evidence, oral or written, from more than 70 bodies who, in their view, are interested or might assist them in their inquiry; and they hope to consider at their next meeting what further oral evidence might be taken later in the year.
