HC Deb 04 June 1946 vol 423 cc316-7W
Mr. Keeling

asked the Minister of Transport whether he will arrange for the special trains to and from Westminster on Victory Day to stop at Sloane Square, as the Coronation train did, for the convenience of Members of both Houses and their friends.

Mr. Barnes

After discussion with the Lord Great Chamberlain, at whose request the special trains are being run, and with the London Passenger Transport Board, I have come to the conclusion that the stopping of these trains at Sloane Square would be undesirable because of the difficulty of confining their use to holders of the special tickets' which are to be provided for Members and their friends. The corresponding arrangements made on the occasion of the Coronation did not provide for a stop at Sloane Square.
