HC Deb 04 June 1946 vol 423 c317W
Mr. B. Taylor

asked the Minister of Food if he will consider the granting of additional soap to the families where there arc infectious diseases, such as measles and scarlet fever, where the cases are being isolated at home.

Mr. Strachey

Extra soap is already provided for people suffering from conditions for which my medical advisers consider more soap essential. While the diseases mentioned by my hon. Friend are not among those conditions, the patients would be entitled to an extra soap ration weekly if they were confined entirely to bed for a period longer than one month. I am sorry that in the light of the supply position I could not consider any general extension of these arrangements at present.
