HC Deb 04 June 1946 vol 423 c312W
Colonel Stoddart-Scott

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he is aware that there is a shortage of cotton regatta cloth required for nurses' uniforms and that at the present moment nurses are starting their training without suitable and adequate clothing, how much of this type of cotton was made last year; and how does he propose to increase the production.

Mr. Belcher

No, Sir. I am not aware of any shortage of cotton regatta cloth required for nurses' uniforms. The production in 1945 was about a million yards, and larger quantities are in production for 1946. If, however, the hon. and gallant Member has any cases of difficulty in mind and will let me have particulars, I shall be glad to look into them.
