§ Mr. M. Lindsayasked the Minister of Agriculture what acreage of potatoes has been planted this year, as compared with 1945; and what steps have been taken to see that sufficient potatoes have been grown this year to offset the cut in flour supplies.

WilliamsPotato growing on farms continues to be subject to direction where necessary and the acreage planned for and likely to have been actually grown in 1946 does not fall much below the maximum attained during the war. Actual figures of this year's acreage will be available towards the end of August. People with gardens and allotments were also urged in the spring of this year to plant a much larger area with potatoes.
