WilliamsExact figures for the area at present under allotment cultivation are not available, but the position has not changed materially since 1943, when it was estimated that there were some 1,400,000 allotments with a total area of about 137,000 acres. I am doing everything possible to stimulate interest and activity in allotment cultivation and have urged local authorities to do likewise.
