Major Spence

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many applications have been made and how many licences have been granted for the building of dwelling-houses in Scotland by individuals or organisations to which no subsidy is payable, for the period 1st August to 31st December, 1945.

During the period in question 104 licences were granted for the building of 251 new houses. There were granted in addition, 193 licences for the conversion of existing premises into approximately 392 houses, and 65 licences for the completion of 200 houses begun before the war.
