HC Deb 26 February 1946 vol 419 cc374-5W
Major Lloyd

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether his attention has been called to the shortage of hospital accommodation in the area of East Renfrewshire, especially for tuberculosis cases and infectious diseases; and when action will be taken in regard to the observations contained in the recent survey of Scottish hospitals by the Department of Health for Scotland.

Mr. Westwood

Action on the reports of the Scottish hospital surveyors is for the responsible hospital authorities, but, generally, it will have to await the reorganisation of the health services as a whole. The first concern of the local authorities responsible for tuberculosis and infectious diseases will no doubt be to remedy shortages of nursing staff, so that all the accommodation already available can be used.
