HC Deb 26 February 1946 vol 419 c374W
Mr. Gallacher

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he has considered the representations of a conference of local education authorities in Scotland, held in Glasgow on 17th January, with regard to Government grants for education; and what action is he taking.

Mr. Westwood

I met representatives of the education authorities on Friday last in Edinburgh and discussed with them the matters raised at the recent conference in Glasgow. On the general position with regard to education grants I would refer my hon. Friend to my reply to a Question on the subject by the hon. Member for Tradeston (Mr. Rankin) on 5th February of which I am sending him a copy and to which I am at present unable to add.
