HC Deb 26 February 1946 vol 419 cc380-1W
Mr. Langford-Holt

asked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster whether he is satisfied with the speed of recruitment to the civilian military government under his administration.

Mr. J. Hynd

With the progress of releases.: from the Armed Forces and the consequent depletion of the military staffs of the Control Commissions in Germany and Austria, the requirements for civilian replacements are increasing steeply. Recruits are coming forward in sufficient numbers but the process of selection and appointment necessarily takes time. This process has recently been accelerated and the position will, I hope, still further improve in the near future.
