HC Deb 21 February 1946 vol 419 c300W
Mr. Walker-Smith

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he is satisfied that no delay is being caused in the copying of bills of quantities by reason of insufficient printers and lithographers being released from the Forces.

Mr. Belcher:

In printing, as in many other civilian trades, shortage of labour is delaying the execution of work, but we have no evidence that bills of quantities have been subject to exceptional delays. In addition to regular demobilisation under Class A, we have recently arranged, in consultation with my right hon. Friend the Minister of Labour, for a block release of 750 printers under Class B.
