§ Mr. Hurdasked the Under-Secretary of State for Air if he will reconsider his Department's refusal to allow the release of Squadron-Leader G. T. W. Cashell, which has been recommended by the Minister of Health and the Central Medical War Committee, so that he may return.to the Royal Berkshire Hospital to take charge of the ophthalmic department.
§ Mr. StracheyAt the time of the original application for this eye-specialist's release there was an urgent need for his work in India and the Far East mainly owing to the release of prisoners-of-war from the Japanese camps, a terribly large number of whom were suffering from grave eye troubles. For this reason we had to refuse his release. But I am glad to say that we shall now be able to release him next month.
