§ Mr. Chamberlainasked the Minister of Food whether he has a further announcement to make regarding the importation of Canary Island tomatoes; and whether he will take steps to reverse the position established by the Emergency Powers (Defence) Order No. 1325, of October, 1945, under which an additional middleman became part of the machinery of tomato importation.
§ Sir B. SmithI am not yet able to make any anouncement about Canary Island tomatoes but I will do so as soon as possible. As regards the second part of the Question, I am unable to agree that an additional middleman has been introduced into the system of distribution as my hon. Friend suggests.
