asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether any arrangement will be made whereby the burden on the taxpayer will be reduced in consequence of the doubling of the cost of wireless licences.

Yes, Sir, in so far as, if the licence were not increased, the loss on working would fall on the taxpayer.
