HC Deb 14 February 1946 vol 419 c139W
Mr. John McKay

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he is aware that Donkin and Company Limited, St. Andrews Works, Walkergate, Newcastleon-Tyne, break through the customary payment of weekly wages when their workmen's employment ends and pay the last two weeks wages together, thus causing unfair tax deductions for that week; that this is being done in cases where the workmen have objected; and if he will inform this company that this practice must cease.

Mr. Dalton

I have looked into this question, and find that the method of payment referred to by my hon. Friend makes no difference to the total tax deductions over the whole period of employment.
