HC Deb 14 February 1946 vol 419 cc135-6W
Lieut.-Colonel Byers

asked the Minister of Health whether he is aware of the concern among applicants for houses in the Sherborne area that against the 225 applications already received only 59 houses are planned for erection in 1946; whether he is satisfied that these houses, in addition to existing accommodation, will meet the requirements of the population; and whether he will improve the position.

Mr. Bevan

There is no suggestion that 59 additional houses will necessarily meet the requirements of the population of the Sherborne Rural District. That is the number which the Council expect to be able to start in the fairly near future, having regard to the resources of labour and materials available. My officers will be discussing their programme with them.
