HC Deb 14 February 1946 vol 419 c138W
Major Gates

asked the Minister of Health whether he is aware that the urban district of Chadderton, with a population of over 20,000, is, on the admission of the Dental War Committee, without the services of a single resident dentist; and whether, as the neighbouring district of Oldham has 29 practitioners and there are a further 23 practitioners in adjoining areas, he will authorise the release from His Majesty's Forces of Captain G. T. Butterworth, who was formerly in residential practice in Chaderton and who is willing to resume.

Mr. Bevan

I am aware that the facts are as stated, but they do not in my opinion, or in that of the Dental War Committee, justify an application for the release out of turn of the officer in question, having regard to the ample number of dentists in Oldham and other neighbouring areas reasonably accessible to the residents of Chadderton.
