HC Deb 14 February 1946 vol 419 cc132-3W
Mr. Austin

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will ban the employment of U.S. entertainers, boxers, etc., with a view to conserving dollar currency for more urgent requirements.

Mr. Ede

Control is exercised under the Aliens Order over the admission of foreigners for the purposes mentioned. The Government's policy in this matter takes account of the need both for protecting the professional interests of British performers here and for avoiding prejudice to their prospects of earning money abroad.
