§ 32. Sir G. Foxasked the Minister of Transport if his attention has been drawn to the dangers caused by the traffic problem in Bicester, Oxfordshire; if he will take steps to improve these conditions; and if adequate parking spaces will be provided.
§ Mr. G. R. StraussTraffic difficulties are always likely to arise where part of a trunk road consists of inadequate town streets, as at Bicester. My right hon. Friend proposes, as soon as practicable, to construct a roundabout at the junction of trunk road A.41 and the Oxford-Buckingham road, and he will also give consideration to the need for a by-pass. In addition a system of one-way working for traffic is being examined. The duty of providing adequate parking places rests with the local authorities and in a recent circular they were reminded of the need to plan on a generous scale.
