§ 127. Mr. K. Lindsayasked the Minister of Education the financial commitments in connection with youth service for the last three financial years.
§ Mr. HardmanThe expenditure upon the Youth Service in the last three financial years has been as follows:

§ 128. Mr. K. Lindsayasked the Minister of Education how many courses in youth service are now in session; at which universities are they conducted; and what measure of financial support is given by her Department.
§ Mr. HardmanFive one-year full-time courses of training for work in the youth service are now in session at universities and university colleges, two at Durham, one at Bristol, one at Swansea and one at Nottingham. The Ministry of Education pays a tuition grant not exceeding £40 for each approved student and refunds expenditure on maintenance allowances at the rates set out in Circular 116, a copy of which I am sending to the hon. Member. In all, 85110W students are attending these courses. There are also two part-time two-year courses in session at Durham attended by 20 students, for each of whom the Ministry pays a tuition grant not exceeding £10 and refunds expenditure on maintenance allowances of up to £9 a head.
