HC Deb 02 December 1946 vol 431 c14W
Sir W. Smithers

asked the Minister of Works why he sold a hut belonging to Mr. H. W. Groves, Cleadon Nurseries, near South Shields, when Mr. Groves had bought it from the Timber Control and held their receipt; and if he will take immediate steps to compensate Mr. Groves for the removal and loss of his hut and take disciplinary action against the person or persons concerned.

Mr. Tomlinson

When the site, with the hut on it, was handed over to my Department for disposal, no mention was made of the previous disposal of the hut. I regret the inconvenience caused to Mr. Groves, but I have arranged to supply him with another hut in replacement
