HC Deb 02 December 1946 vol 431 c5W
42. Mr. W. Fletcher

asked the Minister of Transport the cost of demurrage on shipping held up by the Singapore dock strike during the months of October and November.

Mr. Barnes

No demurrage was incurred on shipping under my control as a result of the recent strike at Singapore. Some ships, including tramp ships which were at Singapore during the period, were discharged in the Roads and were not affected by the strike, but a number of ships undoubtedly lost time.
