HC Deb 02 December 1946 vol 431 cc5-6W
64. Major McCallum

asked the Minister of Transport what his Department propose to do about the closing of Colintraive pier in Argyllshire; and what arrangements have been made to enable the mail and passenger steamers to make the usual calls at this village in future.

Mr. Barnes

Owing to the condition of Colintraive pier which is privately owned, calls by the mail and passenger steamer have been discontinued. Pending the resumption of the steamer calls, goods and passengers are transported by road between Rothesay and Rhubodach and by ferry between Rhubodach and Colintraive. I understand that representatives of the Argyllshire County Council are to discuss the situation in regard to this and other piers with my hon. Friend the Joint Under-Secretary of State for Scotland on 16th December.
