§ 57. Mr. Dodds-Parkerasked the Under-Secretary of State for Dominion Affairs what action he is taking to keep open as many landing fields in Newfoundland as possible; and, in particular, to open up the country for tourists.
§ Mr. M. StewartI have been asked to reply. In addition to the airfield at Gander which has been designated by the Newfoundland Government as their international civil airport, there are airfields at Torbay and Goose Bay which are operated by the Canadian Government. The question of the civil use of the airfields in the United States Bases is now under discussion. The opening up of the country through the medium of further airfields is a matter which the Commission of Government have well in mind.
