§ Mr. BarnesAcceptance of a seaman for employment in the Merchant Navy depends on his qualifications and previous service and the existence of suitable vacancies. I have received an application from eight Spanish seamen in London for employment in the Merchant Navy, and the Merchant Navy Reserve Pool Authorities are arranging to interview these men to see whether it is possible to offer them employment in British ships.
