§ Sir W. Smithersasked the Minister of Transport why a local builder and six of his men are employed putting curbs to the country road from Sudbury to Long Melford in West Suffolk, when they could be better employed providing houses urgently needed in this locality.
§ Mr. Barnes:This is a Class 1 road maintainable by the West Suffolk County Council. Military traffic destroyed the verge and weakened the haunches of the 429W carriageway; the curb is being laid to give lateral support to the carriageway and to protect pedestrians on the adjacent footpath.
