§ 81. Mr. Willisasked the Secretary of State for War if he is aware that petitions against the nationalisation of road transport have been circulated for signature amongst other ranks in the R.A.P.C. at Staunch Buildings, Edinburgh; and if he will take steps to ensure that such petitions are not circulated in other units.
Mr. Bellenģer:I understand that the petition, which had already been signed by some civilians, was handed by a civilian to a Service friend in the unit in question. The latter asked other personnel who were interested to sign it, and obtained 16 signatures out of about 200 in the unit. Steps have been taken to prevent any similar occurrence in future and the individual who introduced the petition has been reproved.
