HC Deb 09 April 1946 vol 421 cc283-4W
Sir E. Graham-Little

asked the Minister of Labour whether he is aware that the Appointments Board of his Department is refusing, in cases submitted under Order Form No. F123, to consider applications for appointments from officers serving abroad but due for immediate release, describing them as persons resident abroad and therefore precluded from consideration; and whether he will take steps to end this discrimination against members of His Majesty's forces, examples of which have been furnished to him.

Mr. Isaacs:

Under current instructions all members of the Forces, including those serving overseas, whose release date has been notified may apply for registration at my appointments offices or with my technical and scientific register and for submission to appropriate vacancies. I very much regret that these instructions were not followed in the instances about which the hon. Member has given me particulars. I have issued instructions which should prevent any recurrence of such an unfortunate error.
