HC Deb 04 April 1946 vol 421 c236W
87. Major Ramsay

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he is prepared to make a statement to the effect that all Service personnel on final release leave, who enter hospital suffering from a complaint contracted during or directly attributable to war service, may be compensated by an additional similar period of leave, with full pay and allowances.

Mr. Bellenger:

It has been decided in principle that Service personnel who during their final release leave enter hospital suffering from a disability which is accepted as attributable to, or aggravated by, their war service in the Forces, shall be retained on pay during such in-patient treatment, in accordance with the scheme for serving members of the Forces announced by my right hon. Friend in reply to the hon. Member for Henley (Sir G. Fox) on 18th December, 1945. Detailed arrangements for implementing this decision are under discussion.
