§ Lieut.-Colonel Mackesonasked the Minister of Education what specific educational qualifications are required from candidates selected for the emergency training courses.
§ Miss Wilkinson:No specific educational qualifications are laid down for admission to this form of training for teaching. I am sending the hon. Member a copy of Circular 18, which sets out the standards and methods which are adopted in the selection of candidates.
Lieut.-Colonel Maekesonasked the Minister of Education if candidates selected as teachers for emergency training courses have to pass a qualifying examination at the conclusion of their course; and if any report is written, or called for, before those concerned are employed as teachers.

§ Miss Wilkinson:Students in Emergency braining Colleges will not be required to undergo a formal external examination of the usual type, but will be assessed by the Training College staff on their work during the whole of the course. This assessment will be subject to a check by the Ministry to ensure reasonable uniformity of standards. Students will be approved by the Ministry as qualified teachers on probation if they reach the required standard in the final assessment.
