HC Deb 04 April 1946 vol 421 cc237-8W
Mr. Gandar Dower

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power whether he is aware of the shortage of anthracite in the North of Scotland caused through the stoppage of supplies from Wales; and whether, in view of the difficult fuel situation in the district of Helmsdale, with no gas or elec- tricity, he will cause delivery of Welsh anthracite to be resumed.

Mr. Shinwell:

Welsh anthracite has not to my knowledge been sent to the North of Scotland for some years. I am unaware of any particular shortage of suitable alternative coals in that area but if the hon. Member has knowledge of any specific case of shortage I will look into it if he will let me have details.
