HC Deb 02 April 1946 vol 421 c152W
Sir R. Glyn

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer the estimated loss of production and cost in wages if Saturday, 8th June, is to be considered as a holiday; and whether such loss to firms in wages and output will be allowed for in assessing for tax purposes.

Mr. Dalton:

No such estimate is available, but a trader who gives his employees a holiday with pay on 8th June may deduct the pay in computing his trading profits for tax purposes.
