HC Deb 02 April 1946 vol 421 c150W
Sir G. Fox

asked the Secretary of State for War why the Thame Masonic Hall, which is requisitioned by his Department and has been empty since last October, began to be used on 14th February for canteen purposes, in the evenings, and one room only being used.

Mr. Lawson:

The hall was taken over by a unit which was then at full strength and required sleeping, canteen and other recreational facilities. Numbers have fallen and it has now been decided that this hall need not be retained for military purposes. It will, therefore, be derequisitioned provided it is not required by any other Department.
