HC Deb 09 October 1945 vol 414 c71W
Mr. Guy

asked the Minister of Works whether he is aware that there are, lying exposed to weather conditions, hundreds of component parts of the Arcon type house in the East India Dock, Poplar; and when they are going to be removed for erection.

Mr. Tomlinson

The premises at the East India Dock are used as a distribution centre for the assembly and distribution of the component parts of Arcon houses. The flow of components in and out of the depot is continuous and temporary storage in the open is not detrimental.

Mr. Mallalieu

asked the Minister of Works what steps he has taken to ensure that parts for prefabricated houses delivered to Huddersfield are accompanied by the nuts and bolts necessary to secure them together.

Mr. Tomlinson

Owing to production difficulties there was, for the short period of a fortnight, a shortage of bolts for a few houses on two sites in Huddersfield during August. The requisite nuts and bolts will in future be sent with the houses.
